How to buy and import a car or powersports unit from Canada

The process without the gloss: real transit times from our own shipments, current freight rates and 2026 duty rates. Where we have no data, it says so.

How are cars and powersports shipped from Canada?

There are two routes out of Montreal. Cars go by sea to the port of Poti, Georgia — 38 days on average across our last 18 sea shipments. BRP powersports (ATVs, snowmobiles, side-by-sides, watercraft) fly to Almaty in 5 days on average, then continue to Bishkek by road. Air freight for a car is quoted separately on request.

CargoModeDestinationTransit
Carsseaport of Poti, Georgia38 days on average
BRP powersportsairAlmaty, then Bishkek5 days on average

Cars normally travel by sea — it is the cheaper route. Air freight for a car is quoted individually: if speed matters for your order, we will price it.

What are the steps to buy a car from Canada?

Buying takes seven steps: you pick a unit from stock, get an invoice from Alpha Auto (Quebec dealer permit OPC 2109609-1) and pay by bank transfer; we prepare the Canadian export paperwork and ship by sea or air; then you clear customs in your country and register the vehicle. Units are in Montreal, in transit, or at our warehouses in Georgia and the UAE.

  1. Pick a unit from stockEverything on the site is already purchased: at our Montreal warehouse, in transit, or at our warehouses in Georgia and the UAE — each model page shows where. Every unit has photos and video — not renders, not auction pictures; the VIN comes after you reserve. If the model you need is not listed, we source it to order.
  2. Get an invoice and contractThe seller is Alpha Auto (9487-1373 Québec Inc.), a licensed vehicle merchant in Quebec, OPC permit 2109609-1. We invoice an individual or a company, whichever you need.
  3. Pay by bank transferBank transfer is our main method — both sides keep a bank-issued proof of payment. Other arrangements are discussed case by case.
  4. We prepare the Canadian export paperworkInvoice, Canadian export declaration and proof of ownership. This package travels with the cargo and is what the consignee needs at customs.
  5. Cargo ships by sea or airCars go by sea to Poti. BRP powersports go by air via Almaty. You get a booking or container number and track the shipment.
  6. The consignee clears customsCustoms clearance in the destination country is done by the consignee, directly or through a broker. Rates are below.
  7. You collect and registerOnce released from customs the unit is yours; registration follows your own country rules.

How long does shipping from Canada take?

Across our last 100 shipments, air freight from Montreal to Almaty took 5 days on average, with nine in ten arriving within 7 days. By sea, a car reaches the port of Poti in 38 days on average, nine in ten within 54 days. We measure from the actual departure to the actual arrival, not from what a carrier promises.

RouteShipmentsFastestAverage9 in 10 arrive within
Air822 d5 d7 d
Sea1815 d38 d54 d

The spread matters more than the average. At sea it comes from vessel schedules and transhipment; in the air, from available cargo space. Plan against the right-hand column, not the average. One-off delays do happen beyond it: across our last 100 shipments the slowest air consignment took 19 days and the slowest sea one 55. Those are exceptions, and we would rather name them than hide them.

Who clears customs, and what is the duty?

Customs clearance is done by the buyer in their own country, directly or through a customs broker; we prepare the Canadian export documents but cannot provide a certificate of origin. What you pay depends on who imports: a private individual pays a single rate on a new car that already covers both duty and taxes, while a company pays EAEU duty plus VAT.

EAEU duty for a company in Kyrgyzstan or Kazakhstan is 15% of customs value on a new car (12.5% for petrol engines over 2,800 cm³), 5% on a straddle-seat ATV or a snowmobile, and 15% on a side-by-side. VAT comes on top: 12% in Kyrgyzstan, 16% in Kazakhstan.

Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan are both in the EAEU, so import duty rates are common to both, while VAT and local fees differ. Below are the rates for each country, separately for a company and for a private individual, with links to the legal texts.

How do you pay for a car from Canada?

Our main method is a bank transfer to the account of Alpha Auto (9487-1373 Québec Inc.) in Montreal. We invoice an individual or a company, whichever suits your customs clearance, and both sides keep a bank-issued proof of payment. Other arrangements are discussed case by case; the final amount is fixed on the invoice.

Is the factory warranty valid after export from Canada?

No. The factory warranty ends when a vehicle is exported from Canada: BRP covers units only in the country of purchase, and Toyota and Lexus cover only vehicles registered and normally operated in the US and Canada. A manufacturer service centre in your country does not change that. We offer no warranty of our own, but we help you order genuine parts.

That is not our policy — it is the manufacturers’:

A manufacturer service centre in your country does not change this: a local dealer has no obligation to service a vehicle bought abroad. This applies to every exporter — if someone promises you otherwise, ask for it in writing.

We do not offer a warranty of our own. What we do: sell new, unused units with full documentation and VIN, and help you order genuine parts.

Can I buy a single car, or is it wholesale only?

Yes, you can buy just one: the minimum order is a single unit and there is no wholesale threshold. We sell to private buyers and to dealers; for companies, the invoice, contract and export paperwork are issued in the company name. Many of our regular clients started with one trial purchase and moved on to regular sea and air shipments.

What is in stock right now?

Below is part of our current stock (12 units), each with its own page showing photos, price and shipping. All of it is already purchased: in Montreal, in transit, or at our warehouses in Georgia and the UAE. If the model you need is not listed, we source it to order and quote price and timing for your request.

We also ship genuine accessories for Can-Am, Ski-Doo and Sea-Doo: BRP accessories wholesale — by the pallet, or together with a machine you buy from us.

What else do buyers ask about importing from Canada?

The short version: the minimum order is one unit; payment is by bank transfer to the company account; the buyer handles customs clearance; the factory warranty does not survive export; we cannot provide a certificate of origin. The seller is Alpha Auto, a licensed vehicle merchant in Quebec. We do not ship to Russia or Belarus.

How much does it cost to import a vehicle from Canada?
The total has four parts: the unit price, freight, duty and VAT in the destination country, and local fees. Sea freight for a car to Poti is $2 200. Air freight for powersports to Almaty starts at $3 000. Duty is charged on customs value and depends on who imports. A company in Kyrgyzstan or Kazakhstan pays 15% on a new car (12.5% for petrol engines over 2,800 cm³), 5% on a straddle-seat ATV or a snowmobile and 15% on a side-by-side, plus VAT: 12% in Kyrgyzstan, 16% in Kazakhstan. A private individual pays a single rate on a new car — 48–54% of its value, but not less than €2.5–20 per 1 cm³, VAT included. The final amount is calculated by a customs broker in the destination country.
How long does delivery take?
Across our last 100 shipments: air averages 5 days, with nine in ten arriving within 7; sea averages 38 days, nine in ten within 54. The fastest we have done is 2 days by air and 15 by sea. Occasional delays run longer — vessel schedules and transhipment at sea, cargo space in the air.
Can I buy a single unit or is it wholesale only?
You can buy one: the minimum order is a single car or a single BRP unit, and there is no wholesale threshold. We handle one-off purchases by private buyers as well as regular dealer supply; companies get the invoice and paperwork in the company name.
Does the manufacturer warranty stay valid?
No. BRP warranty is valid only in the country of purchase, and Toyota and Lexus cover vehicles registered and normally operated in the US and Canada. Exporting ends it, and a local service centre does not change that — it is the manufacturers’ rule and it applies to every exporter. We do not offer a warranty of our own; we do help you order genuine parts.
How do I pay?
By bank transfer to the account of Alpha Auto (9487-1373 Québec Inc.) in Montreal, so both sides keep a bank-issued proof of payment. We invoice an individual or a company. Other payment arrangements are discussed case by case.
Who handles customs clearance?
The buyer does, in their own country, directly or through a customs broker. We cover the Canadian side: export documents, loading and delivery to the agreed point. We cannot provide a certificate of origin. For a company in the EAEU, duty is 15% on a new car (12.5% for petrol engines over 2,800 cm³), 5% on a straddle-seat ATV or a snowmobile and 15% on a side-by-side, plus local VAT. The final amount is calculated by a customs broker in the destination country.
What documents do I need?
An individual needs a passport, phone, email and delivery address; a company needs its registration details. We prepare the rest: the invoice, the Canadian export declaration and proof of ownership. That package travels with the cargo and is what the consignee needs at customs.
How can I verify you are a real company?
Alpha Auto is 9487-1373 Québec Inc., a licensed vehicle merchant in Quebec. OPC permit 2109609-1 can be checked in the Office de la protection du consommateur register, and the company itself in the Registraire des entreprises du Québec.
Do you ship to Georgia, the UAE and Europe?
Georgia is our regular sea route: a car takes 38 days on average from Montreal to the port of Poti, and freight costs $2 200. Europe and the UAE we ship on request — we have no steady volume there, so we quote each enquiry individually rather than from a price list.
