Catalogue How to import

Cars from Canada to Europe

We have demand from Poland, Lithuania, Germany and Moldova, but no established route yet: a manager works out the port and the rate for each of these first orders. Below is what is already certain and what we confirm against your specific enquiry.

How the car gets there

Cars leave Montreal by sea for a European port — roughly 20–30 days — and then go overland to your address in Poland, Lithuania, Germany or Moldova. Which port works out best for your address, and what the inland leg costs, we calculate against the specific order and confirm on the invoice.

1. Purchase in Canada. We buy from a dealer or at auction in our own name — Alpha Auto, a licensed Quebec vehicle merchant, not a broker passing you along.

2. Montreal warehouse. Photo and video report with the VIN visible, so you see the exact car before it is loaded.

3. Sea: Montreal to Europe. Export declaration, container booking, marine insurance. You get the booking number and track the vessel.

4. Inland leg in Europe. Quoted against your specific address, together with the sea leg.

5. Customs clearance. Done by you or your broker. We hand over the full document package: invoice, export declaration, title.

There is no fixed rate on this page on purpose — the European route is still being worked out. Send us the model and the city and we will come back with a calculation for the sea and inland legs, a figure rather than a “from”.

How long does it take?

The sea leg from Montreal to Europe runs roughly 20–30 days as a guide, plus the inland leg to your address and customs clearance. The exact schedule is confirmed when the booking is made.

For context, on routes we run regularly our sea shipments average 44 days to the port of Poti in Georgia, with nine in ten arriving within 55 days, measured across our last 23 sailings. Europe is a shorter crossing, which is where the 20–30 day guide comes from.

Customs clearance in Europe

Poland, Lithuania and Germany are in the European Union: EU duty, VAT and excise are paid by the consignee, plus registration under the rules of the country. Moldova is not in the EU and has its own rates.

We deliberately do not print figures here — they change, and a calculation from your own broker for your specific car is worth more than an out-of-date rate on a website. What we do provide is the full Canadian export package: invoice, export declaration and title.

Who you are buying from

The seller is Alpha Auto (9487-1373 Québec Inc.), a licensed vehicle merchant in Quebec, OPC permit 2109609-1 — we buy the unit in our own name at a Canadian dealer or auction, not as a broker passing you along. Everything goes through our Montreal warehouse, where we shoot photo and video with the VIN visible before loading. Minimum order is one unit: we work with private buyers and with dealers. We have moved over 700 units out of Canada since 2022.

What we do not promise

We do not yet have a worked-out European route, and we would rather say so than quote a rate we cannot hold. We do not ship to Russia or Belarus.

The factory warranty does not survive export from Canada. BRP (Can-Am, Ski-Doo, Sea-Doo, Lynx) states the warranty is valid only in the country of purchase; Toyota and Lexus cover vehicles registered and normally operated in the United States and Canada. That is the manufacturers’ rule, not ours, and it applies to every exporter. We do not offer a warranty of our own — what we do is sell new, unused units with full documentation and a visible VIN, and help you order genuine parts.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to ship a car from Canada to Europe?
There is no exact rate on this page, and that is honest: the European route is still being worked out. Send us the model and the city and a manager will calculate the sea and inland legs and reply with a figure, not a “from”. For reference: on our Ukraine route the sea leg to Lithuania is $1,800 per car.
How long does shipping from Canada to Europe take?
The sea leg from Montreal to Europe is roughly 20–30 days as a guide, plus the inland leg to your address and customs clearance. We confirm the exact schedule when the booking is made.
Which European countries do you ship to?
We have demand from Poland, Lithuania, Germany and Moldova and quote those enquiries individually. There is no steady volume on this route yet, so the port and the rate are worked out per order rather than taken from a price list.
Who handles customs clearance in Europe?
You or your customs broker do. In Poland, Lithuania and Germany that means EU duty, VAT and excise plus local registration; Moldova is outside the EU and has its own rates. We hand over the full Canadian export package: invoice, export declaration and title.
Do you ship to Russia?
No. We do not ship to Russia or Belarus.
Does the factory warranty still apply after export?
No. BRP warranty is valid only in the country of purchase, and Toyota and Lexus cover vehicles registered and normally operated in the US and Canada. Exporting ends it, and a local service centre does not change that — it is the manufacturers’ rule and it applies to every exporter. We do not offer a warranty of our own; we do help you order genuine parts.
